ESL 322 specific guidelines & policies

    Cell Phones/Pagers

Turn off all cell phones and pagers once the class session starts. Do not make any calls from class. If you are expecting a call, please do not bother to come to class. Phones and pagers are very distracting to other students and the instructor.

    Late Homework Policy

If you miss a class, please get the assignment(s) from one of your classmates or the instructor. It is your responsibility to do this. Assignments will not be accepted if they are more than one class meeting late. For example, if an assignment is due on Tuesday, and you turn it in on following Thursday at the beginning of class, it will be accepted and will receive a lower grade. Anything later will not be accepted.

    Attendance

Please attend every class and arrive on time. If you arrive late, please quietly enter the classroom and find a seat. Tell the instructor if you know ahead that you will be absent. If you are absent for more than three classes or you are late more than four times, your participation grade will be lowered. If you come to class late, it is your responsibility to tell the instructor at the end of class that you were late, or you may be marked absent. A student who is absent for three or more consecutive classes can be dropped from the class. If you decide to drop the class, please let me know. You are responsible to formally drop a class. You may drop by telephone (408-223-0300) or by drop form in the Office of Admissions and Records. The last day to drop the course with no "W" is Friday, September 28. The last day to drop the course and receive a "W" is Wednesday, Nov. 21.
